i min nästa krönika.
24-26 november. En riktigt bra mässa, som
ni bara inte får missa!
Hälsningar

Micke Kågeredd´s column in the BILSPORT MAGAZINE #21
As many of you readers already know, Håkan Nilsson became the new champion in Top Fuel Dragster during the European Finals at Santa Pod. I was one of the first to congratulate Håkan and his team- the win was well deserved... but of course I would rather have been in his postition myself, no doubt about that. I fell to a final 6th position in the championship and it is my worst result ever in a championship, the funny car career included. I have been used to and maybe a bit spoiled by being among the "top three" year after year, but this sesaon we have struggled real hard with technical problems. At times we have been running well, but in order to win the championship, the car must perform at top level during close to every run and we have not been successful enough in making that happen. They say with all bad comes something good and in our case, maybe it is motivation. My team is more eager than ever to try and take revenge (in a good sense of course). I write try, because the competition is close and the machines we are talking about are pretty complex. We will make quite some changes (hopefully for the better) for next season. The land preparation for what will be a new workshop is on its way and I believe it will simplify our work with the race car and other equipment a great deal. Since more than 10 years our main workshop is located in Eskilstuna (1 hours drive south of Stockholm). That was fine when the majority of the mechanics was from the nearby area, but that is not the case any longer and it feels a natural decision to bring the dragster "home" to Linköping. The new workshop is actually being built on a piece of land I have in connection with my home since many years.
What we and the other teams in top fuel are
looking forward to is a rule change that will allow electronic controlsystems
for the clutch and ignition. In the US they use
the teqhnique already, but out of practical reasons the FIA regulations for
Europe is a year behind the US. We hope it will contribute to improved
performance and less technical problems in these areas.
The season 06 had plenty of bright moments
after all. It has been my most successful year off the race track, where we have
participated in numerous activities, like road shows and exhibitions. I
have met a lot of interested people, all ages and within a vast variety of
trades. The race season is not over yet for me either. The 23rd of october I fly
to Bahrain to participate in a showrace. I will pilot the Bahco Express top fuel
dragster I normally am in. Eight drivers from
five countries have been invited and I am one of them. There is one driver
from the US and another from Bahrain. The rest are from within Europe. The race
car, spare parts and tools were shipped a month ago in a container. I get to
bring four of my crew members to work on the car and in addition Alan Jackson
who will be tuning it as usual. The track we run on is located parallelly with
the F-1 track and it is a fantastic arena. It is going to be great fun and I
hope to get a chance to report from the trip in my next column.
I also hope to meet many BILSPORT readers at the Svenska Bilsportmässan
(Swedish Motorsportfair) in Stockholm november 24-26th.
A great show, held for the third consequtive year.
Best Regards,
Micke Kågered
