Final:
Both Micke and Tommy struggled down the track, Micke´s chutes shook out at half track and he was left behind. His comments after the runs was that the visibility was close to nothing because of the dark and that there was nothing he could do. Although Möller won the race, he did loose the championship title to Lex Joon by (what we counted to) mere six points. Our congrats to both team Möller and Joon for good achievements this season. Micke ended in a 3rd place in the overall points standings.

Semi finals:
Micke in stage, just seconds before the run when he got sign from the starter it was going to be a bye run. Leakage from Lex car made the starter decide to shut the car down. And so the championship is an open matter again theoretically as Möller still has the chance to pass Joon. Möller´s ride was shaky and he had to pedal the car more than once to get down the track. If Lex can hold on to his "low ET" points throughout the final he is the champion, even if Tommy should win the event. The final is scheduled for 8 pm, deadline for the event to close is 9 pm.

Quarter finals:
Persåker could not get reverse in after the burnout. Micke accordingly had a bye run, used it to make a 60 foot time and not a full pass, hoping to save some time on maintenenace for the next run. He had been strapped in the car for 45 minutes waiting in line and for the track to be cleaned after Callin´s oil down. Callin beat Webster in a close race and will be facing Tommy Möller in the semi finals. Joon looked good and are now very close to secure the FIA champion title. Möller currently second in the points standings.

Comments session #1: Micke quickest this first run out, ok run but the car weakened at the latter part of the track. Blower belt off for Joon, who has a good chance of winning the championship this weekend.

Comments session #2:
Micke again quickest, closely followed this time by Carter, Callin and Joon who all ran in the 4´s. Callin set a personal best. Nathås and Möller did not perform their best today, but with two moew qualification runs still scheduled, there is still more to come. Some work to be made on the engine on Micke´s car as the crank and both heads were hurt during this run.

Comments session #3-4: Cancelled due to rain

ELIMINATIONS TOP METHANOL FUNNY CAR  september 11th

QUARTER-FINALS
1 Urs Erbacher red-light
8 Ulf Leanders SEMI-FINALS
Ulf Leanders 5.90/240
Ni.Andersson 6.03/236
4 Niclas Andersson 6.05/236
5 Martin Lundqvist 6.40/215 FINAL

WINNER

Ulf Leanders 7.01/136
Arvid Grödem 5.96/218
2 Dan Larsen red-light
7 Kjell Sjöblom 6.04/224
Kjell Sjöblom 6.30/214
Arvid Grödem 5.95/239
3 Leif Andréasson 5.92/241
6 Arvid Grödem 5.88/246

Final: Redlight in the final by Grödem and the win automatically to Leanders. Grödem ran well during the eliminations which is real impressive. Congrats to FIA methanol funny car champion Urs Erbacher and runner up Dan Larsen, who has also been doing real well this season.

Semi finals:
That was the end of Niclas season as he was outrun by Leanders. Niclas car simply acting slower and the win for Leanders was fair. We may have to get used to seeing Arvid Grödem in finals as he has been performing well and consistent throughout the eliminations. Leanders and Grödem into the finals..

Quarter finals:
Niclas run was not a smooth one, severe tires shakes and you could see air under the back tires. However he was in the lead all the way down the track and passed the finish line a length before Lundqvist. Unexpected red-lights for both Erbacher and Larsen. Erbacher now have secured the FIA champion title and Dan Larsen who still had a shot at it, is out of the gamed. Arvid Grödem had the run of his life, beating Andréasson and running a personal best with 5.88 seconds! Well done and as a results he will meet rookie Kjell Sjöblom in the semi finals. Niclas against Leanders, who ran 5.99 in the semis.

Comments session #1: Not many surprises this first try out, as Erbacher took the lead followed by Larsen, Andréasson and with Andersson in 4th place. Niclas running 5.90 sec. and by that probably secured a spot in the 8-car elimination ladder for sunday.

Comments session #2: Niclas quickest of the field this session, although stayed in the 4th place after Erbacher (5.71), Larsen (5.77) and Andréasson (5.87). Nice and close perormance. The car drifted towards the guardrail for Niclas and considering, he was pleased with the run.

EVENT HIGHLIGHTS

Winner Monica Öberg
Runner Up Micke Kågered
Low ET 5.03 (Tommy Möller)
Top Speed 352 (Tommy Möller)

"After run service" in the pits- Kjell checking the bottom of the engine, while Uffe and Keijo checks the heads and Thomas is in charge of servicing the clutch.

An all Swedish challenge in addition to the Pro Mods, bikes and bracket cars on site at Tullinge this weekend. The idea was that two qualification sessions would give the four drivers a spot in the 4-car elimination ladder. However one session was cancelled due to rain. The eliminations accordingly is only based on the results of one qualification run, where all four teams overpowered the track.

TOP FUEL CHALLENGE 4-CAR ELIMINATION LADDER

SEMI-FINALS

4 Jöran Persåker 8.25/156

FINAL

Monica Öberg 5.49/328 winner
Micke Kågered 7.47/187
2 Micke Kågered 6.20/229
3 Tommy Möller 8.22/143

COMMENTS SEMIFINALS: Micke and Monica managed best and were the ones first over the finish line in their heats respectively. Micke´s comment after the race;"It felt great at first, I had a real good start but spun the tires at the last part of the track, loosing traction". He continues; "The performance this weekend is overall slower than at an FIA race, but we are happy anyway as it is a real nice and well organised event here at Tullinge. We will make further adjustments mainly to the clutch for the final and see where that takes us".

COMMENT RUN FOR 3-4th PLACE: Möller got it going and Persåkers run looked good until the blower belt came off. Möller´s 5.03/352 km quickest this weekend and he took a clear win over Persåker.

COMMENT FINAL: A shaky ride for Micke, who tried to pedal the car a couple of times to get the car all the way through the finish line. Smoother ride for Monica Öberg and her 5.49/328 km was enough to win the final this time.

Qualification session #2: Halfpass for Micke whose comment after the run was; "I was a bit cautious. There are so many bits and pices on a car like this and I wanted to make sure everything worked alright after the engine change. It felt ok the first part of the track so now we need to work on a combination to try and match Möller and Nathås this weekend". Carter lost traction right off the starting line. Page run was over before it started when a parachute shook out during the burnout. Persåker passed the finish line cruising after an engine failure during the run.

Qualification session #1:Micke Kågered´s engine blew at half track in a ball of fire. The extensive damage mean we are in for a complete engine change. Darryl Bradford, who is in the Knut Söderqvist car Susanne Callin piloted at Mantorp, made an easy pass. Our guess is that he wanted to get the feel of the car, as he has not driven it before. Already three cars in the 4´s- Nathås, Joon and Möller, with Carter just a tiny bit behind. One more session secheduled today and our top fuel crew is working hard to get everything ready in time for it.

Qualification session #1
: Niclas not out on track this first session as a damaged head had to be changed last minute. Scattered field so far, not too unusual for a first round.

QUARTER FINALS: Page had the hang of it at the first part of the track, but could not keep up with Carter all the way. Kågered shut off by the starter due to what he thought was a leakage from the car. The starter rules, so that was the end for Micke this race weekend. Möller, who got the sign he was running alone just launched and cruised tha track. Joon and Nathås took the two remaining spots in the semi finals. Tough luck for team Kågered, nothing we could have done otherwise, just to try and recharge our batteries for the next race at Mantorp that´s all.

SEMI FINALS: Lex Joon, who won the first championship round in England, was taken out by Thomas Nathås. Nathås running his so far best this weekend just when needed. Carter running pretty consistent this event and his place in the final is well deserved. Our guess is that it is going to be a real tight race between Carter and Nathås in the final.

FINAL: Last years top fuel champion Andy Carter let everybody see he is serious about defending the title. No luck in England last race for Andy, but he was able to take a winner´s trophy back to England with him as he outran Nathås in the final.

Comments qualification session #4: Another 5.20 run for Micke, consistent but not as quick as he had wished for. Carter, lined up last chose not to run when it became clear he still held the #1 spot for sundays eliminations. Nathås improved and took the third spot from Micke, now number 4 in the field. It means he will meet Tomy Möller in the quarter finals.

Comments qualification session #3:
Good run for Micke under the circumstances and (as it proved to be) quickest of all this session. More than one car smoked the tires and lost traction before half track. Carter, who was quickest yesterday chose not to run this session.

Comments qualification session #2:
A snapped blower belt put an end to this try for Micke. No other damage to the car as we know of yet. Möller also had problems when a fuel hose broke (or came loose). Carter and Joon running real well.

Comments qualification session #1:
Half the starting field out at the track this first run. Micke Kågered wanted to check out the traction and afterwards stated that he could have run harder as the track was better than we thought before the run. Our guess is that most cars will be out on track for the next session. Weather hot and sunny, so we are having a great day here at Alastaro.

3 L.Andréasson 5.98/387
6 J.Kuutniemi 6.05/378

QUARTER FINALS: We tried to get Niclas car race ready, but there was to much damage that could not be fixed at the track, which meant we gave up our spot to first alternate Martin Lundqvist (the points for the quarter finals still going to Niclas). No major surprises as Andréasson (pretty close race), Larsen, Erbacher and Leanders won their runs and are on to the semi finals.

SEMI FINALS: Andréasson´s blower belt came off and that was the end of his day. Leanders run was not the smoothest and he was very disappointed after loosing to Erbacher. Erbacher and Larsen are the two who has run quickest all weekend and consistent as well. Not much to say about those two going to the final. We don´t dare to guess the outcome of that one!

FINALS: As suspected the final was a top class killer, between the (at the moment) two outstanding performers in the class. The victory to reigning champion Erbacher. The thriller will probably continue at Mantorp Park three weeks from now when Larsen and Erbacher and the rest of the field once again battle for championship points and glory!

Comments qualification session #4: As the engine and more was damaged (two rods broken to pieces) last run in Niclas car, he was not out on track for the 4th and last session. Erbacher back in good form as. Andréasson, Larsen and Leanders have been performing in the 5.90´s. Rookie Staflund impressed, closing in on the rest of the field throughout the qualifications. Niclas is up against Dan Larsen in the quarter finals. We are unsure at the moment whether we will be able to repair what is broken besides the engine for the eliminations.

Comments qualification session #3:
Two rods out for Niclas at half track. Block, crank, heads, oil pan etc. etc. damaged. Other than that, the performance now in the 5´s which must be considered ok as the weather is very hot as well as the track- not the perfect conditions.

Comments qualification session #2:
The whole session was cancelled/postponed. The reason being extensive oil down in one lane and at 7 p.m. the drivers together with the organisers decided it was better to send back the cars to the pits for today.

Comments qualification session #1:  Not the best traction yet for the "short wheel base" funny cars. Team Kågered chose not to run this first session, thinking it would not be much use performancewise. The car is ready and will be out the second session later today.

Comments  Eliminations:
FINALS:
Clear win for Joon, who seemedly had some damage to his car during the run. Good performance from many teams this first race of the season and we will be in for an interesting and exciting top fuel championship for sure!

SEMI FINALS:
Micke was taken out of the race by Webster, whose car runs like a bracket car this weekend, very consistent. "We have been struggling with a combination of parts failure and tires shakes all weekend and we were lucky to make it past the quarter final really performing as we have", says Kågered and continues "I think it is worse for Niclas in the funny car who has been improving all weekend to finish the race with an oil leakage, rather than being outrun." Joon and Webster into the final, both looking good and anyone of the capable to take the victory today.

QUARTER FINALS:
Well, what do you know.. Micke Kågered who qualified number 8 had a better start ofthe day today as he took out number one qualifier Thomas Nathås in the quarter finals. Nathås as we heard having problems with the throttle wire. Micke in the other lane loosing some traction and the blower belt, but quick enough anyway all the way down the track to take the win. Möller enjoyed a bye run as Smith could not get reverse gear out after the burnout. Webster running very consistent this weekend took out Carter who had problems and stopped on track without passing the finish line.
